Purpose

Many users pay photographers hourly instead of using per-service rates. Spiro fully supports hourly payout workflows through the Photographer Work Duration Report, which shows the total time spent onsite for each job.

This article explains where to find that report and how to use it for payroll.

Overview

Spiro automatically logs each photographer's work activity so you can calculate hourly pay without needing a specific hourly-pay toggle.

The report provides:

  • Expected onsite duration (based on appointment settings)

  • Actual onsite duration

  • Difference between expected and actual duration

  • Appointment counts and job details

Because this data is already recorded, hourly payout is straightforward:

Run the report → filter by pay period → apply your hourly rate.

How to Run the Photographer Work Duration Report

1. Open the left navigation menu and click Metrics & Reports.

2. Click “Generate Report”

3. Select “Photographer Work Duration”

Then select the date range for your pay period and click Get Report

4. Generate Report

Your report will be generated and emailed to you. Additionally, it will be available for download once created.

Understanding the Work Duration Report

When opened or exported, the report shows:

  • Photographer name

  • Number of appointments

  • Days with appointments

  • Expected Onsite Duration (minutes)

  • Actual Onsite Duration (minutes)

  • Percent difference

These time values give you the total minutes worked during the selected period so you can calculate hourly pay accurately.

Tips for Managing Hourly Payroll in Spiro

  • Ensure photographers start their workday accurately using the Begin Day (Notify First Client) button in their portal

  • Confirm appointments are completed properly so durations record correctly.

  • Run the report consistently each payroll cycle.

  • Export the report if you prefer to calculate totals in Excel or your payroll software.
