Image size for thumbnails on your Order Page

What size to make package images and videos, how they display on each card size, and how to change how they fit.

Written by Todd Kivimaki

Overview

You can add an image or video to each package on your Order Page. On desktop, package cards come in three sizes: small, medium and large. On mobile, every card shows at the small size. Two settings, Lock 16:9 ratio and Crop to fit, change how the image or video fits on medium and large cards.

Understanding image thumbnails

The best image size depends on your settings:

  • With Lock 16:9 ratio on: upload a 16:9 image at least 1000 pixels wide, such as 1280 x 720.

  • With both settings off: the large card’s image area is 1000 x 180 pixels, which is the size suggested under Bundle Gallery. Small cards and mobile show a 16:9 area, so a wide, short image shows with blurred sides there.

To keep images sharp, use one that’s at least 1000 pixels wide.

How images display:

  • Small cards and mobile: the image fills the card.

  • Medium and large cards: by default the image area is a short, wide strip. Your image is centered and scaled to fit, with a softly blurred copy filling each side. To change this, see How to change how a thumbnail fits.

Understanding video thumbnails

You can add a YouTube or Vimeo link to a package to show a video instead of an image.

  • Desktop: by default the video fills the width of the card and the bottom is cut off. The wider the card, the less of the video shows. Small cards show the whole video. To show the whole video on medium and large cards, turn on Lock 16:9 ratio. Videos don’t stretch or crop to fill the card. If the video doesn’t match the frame, black bars show where it doesn’t fill. Crop to fit doesn’t apply to videos.

  • Mobile: the whole video frame shows.

Make your video 16:9 and keep the important footage, text and logos near the top center of the frame.

Looping:

  • Vimeo: turn on Loop in Vimeo’s player settings so the video repeats.

  • YouTube: YouTube links don’t loop. To keep the thumbnail playing, repeat your 15–30 second clip on your editing timeline until the video is 3–5 minutes long.

Before uploading:

  • Export the video without audio.

  • Export at 1080p or 720p.

  • Paste the video’s public share link into the package’s video URL field.

How to change how a thumbnail fits

  1. Go to Shopping Cart → Order Pages.

  2. Click the pencil next to the Order Page.

  3. Click the pencil next to the package (bundle).

  4. In Card Setup, turn on Lock 16:9 ratio, Crop to fit, or both.

  5. Click Save Changes.

Setting

Medium and large cards

Neither (default)

Short, wide image area. The image is centered with blurred sides, and only the top of a video shows.

Lock 16:9 ratio

The image area becomes 16:9. The whole image or video shows, with no blurred sides.

Crop to fit

Short, wide image area. The image fills it, cropped from the center, so the top and bottom are cut off. Images only.

Both

The image area becomes 16:9, and an image that isn’t 16:9 is cropped from the center to fill it.

For most packages, turn on Lock 16:9 ratio and upload a 16:9 image at least 1000 pixels wide. 1280 x 720 works well.

Notes

  • These settings are set separately for each package, and both are off by default.

  • They only change medium and large cards on desktop. Small cards and mobile already show a 16:9 image area.

  • Images in the View More package pop-up, the service info pop-up and the order page selection cards aren’t affected. They’re still cropped to fill, so keep important content toward the center.

  • The package label (for example “Best Of The Best”) appears in the top-left corner. Keep important content away from it.
